Philosophy or Science? Religion or Christ?

Updated: Sep 16, 2019

For many years I lived with convictions that once upon a time seemed right, just and correct.  The right way.  “The way of God”.  I judged others (not that the act of judging is in itself inherently bad in its correct context).  I saw the world, I saw people from the lens crafted by what I thought was “God’s lens”.

I was wrong!  Terribly wrong!

The damage that was done as a result of “self-righteousness” (even though not intended) left regrettable realities.  Some have been able to be repaired, while others have been more difficult to repair.  Undoubtedly, as a result of the delicate nature of trust and its care, it is to say the least, history that cannot be erased but by the giving of time to the establishment of new history, reliability can be rebuilt.  Trustworthiness.

How do I know that I was wrong?  Self-governance and the actual comprehension of it. Maturity in Christ.

It is an established fact that everyone in our society is grown and cultured by their respective parents or guardians.  In other words, we are indoctrinated.  We are taught to fully accept the ideas, opinions, and beliefs of our parents/ guardians respectively and to not consider other ideas, opinions, and beliefs.  Unwittingly, we are taught to be opinionated, having no verifiable reference point for our so called convictions and therefore, frankly speaking, we are schooled to be fools.  Proud, convicted, self-confident FOOLS!

Easy! Take a deep breath and give me an ear!

For many of us, our reference point is, “mami used to say”, “my mother always said”, “mummy/ daddy taught me”, “that is how I was taught”, “I never grew up like that”, and the list goes on.  Unfortunately, we overlook the fact that our parents/ guardians may also have grown up like that and that their parents would have schooled them likewise, and their parents’ parents lived in an era where there was little to no access to information and knowledge.  This would mean  that in the twenty first century, the present generation is programmed to live with eighteenth century intelligence.  Or, should I more accurately term it eighteenth century unverifiable opinions.  And, despite repetitive failure and philosophies that yield unwanted and unpleasant results, few actually stop to question why.  Their lack of having a verifiable reference point instead results in increased emotional motivation, passionate defense of their indoctrination and to even hostility because of the surge of horror and panic that the falsehood and ridiculousness of their identity may have been identified.  Who and what we are (our identity) is nothing more than a house built upon the foundational platform of what we believe.

Think about it.  The more sorrowful aspect of this is that those that do not stop and question, those who do not stop and wake up, those who do not stop and find a verifiable reference point, technically live an entire lifetime robbed of the genuinely full experience of  their created potential and the entire creation was robbed of experiencing the intended purpose of their. If this is so, you were here, but all of creation at no point and time were aware of your presence.  In other words, you were a flower that never flowered, a fruit tree that never bore fruit, preoccupied with matters and goals that kept you distracted.  In the words of King Solomon, “a still born child is better than such a person”.

Alarmingly and unfortunately, religion is a professionally structured version of this ‘fool generating culture’.

Easy! Easy! I know that the dissonance has begun, but please try and follow my thought.

Upon joining a religious institution, converts within a different context, relive their childhood.  They, if they had not awoken from the slumber of their cultural indoctrination already (i.e outside of religion), join the institution and like a child that comes into the world with no verifiable knowledge, they look upon the religious leaders as mummy and daddy again and without question (despite having a mind that is fully operational) submit to their “authority”.  The “I am your father/ mother, what I say goes” approach.  Just like innocent and ignorant children, they follow and receive the scolding of the religious leaders for not obeying the words and instructions that proceed out of their mouths.  And, even if not under the authority of a particular leader, approach the topic of God similarly to their childhood, they listen and accept what they hear and regurgitate it like a parrot.  INTELLIGENCE powered off!

It is because of this approach that religious Christians are at great variance and hostility with science and the scientist.  For science to be called science, there must be a verifiable reference point.  Without a verifiable reference point any information falls very comfortably into the category of a theory.  Also known as a PHILOSOPHY! Philosophy and religion by construct and approach are synonymous.

As a matter of fact, this had always been the chasm that existed between the renown physicists Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla. Whilst Einstein theorized (referred to as a theoretical physicist), Tesla practically experimented (referred to as an experimental physicist).  Theoretical physicists theorize having no reference point but their imaginative experiments (limited to mental picture), which can in reality be the polar opposite of what would really happen in a physical experiment.  Experimental physicists on the other hand carry on practical experiments and therefore make conclusions by their actual observable evidence.  INTELLIGENCE powered on!

Do you know that the Bible refutes the religious approach in this context.  And in no few words.  King Solomon says this:

Proverbs 4:5,7,8 Get [skillful and godly] wisdom! Acquire understanding [actively seek spiritual discernment, mature comprehension, and logical interpretation]!

The beginning of wisdom is: Get [skillful and godly] wisdom [it is preeminent]! And with all your acquiring, get understanding [actively seek spiritual discernment, mature comprehension, and logical interpretation].

Prize wisdom [and exalt her], and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her. Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.

Do you know that the modern day English reflection of Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding is Intelligence, (Experiential) Information and Reasoning (Comprehending the mechanics)?  The Saints exist to live from INTELLIGENCE and not INDOCTRINATION.  Interestingly enough, the Apostle Paul (a former renowned Pharisee of his day) states in his letter to the Corinthians (i.e 1 Corinthians 1:30) states, “But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, WHO BECAME TO US WISDOM (aka INTELLIGENCE) from God [revealing His plan of salvation], and righteousness [making us acceptable to God], and sanctification [making us holy and setting us apart for God], and redemption [providing our ransom from the penalty for sin]”. He also said to the Colossians (i.e Colossians 2:8): See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception [pseudo-intellectual babble], according to the tradition [and musings] of mere men, following the elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth—the teachings of] Christ”.

Again, if philosophy is defined as: a search for a general understanding of values and reality by chiefly speculative rather than observational means, then obviously to walk in Christ one must have verifiable and observational reference points.  Hence the reason the Apostle said to the Corinthians, “For the Kingdom of God is not based on talk but on power” and to the Romans, “For I will not [even] presume to speak of anything except what Christ has done through me [as an instrument in His hands], resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles [to the gospel], by word and deed, with the power of signs and wonders, [and all of it] in the power of the Spirit. So [starting] from Jerusalem and as far away as Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel [faithfully preaching the good news] of Christ [where it had not before been preached].

The very Scriptures reveal that God and the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and Jesus Christ is not a religion nor a philosophy, but is observationally verifiable.  Therefore, it is more scientific than you may have ever imagined.  The Saints, however, do not live in a Kingdom of natural science as the natural scientists of the world but in the Kingdom of supernatural science.  Spirit!  The religious may have made it a vendetta against the natural scientists of the world, but the truth of the matter is that if they are serious about living and manifesting the Kingdom of God on Earth, they have much to learn from the natural scientist’s approach to truth than they may be willing to admit and with the scientific approach to the Spirit to understand the mechanics of the Spirit they are truly walking and MATURING IN CHRIST.  Maturity increases with knowledge of how and why. Verifiable reference points. Without the knowledge of the how and why to be able to make intelligent decisions, we are immature and we find it easy to be governed by rules and laws.  The complacency of not being required to THINK!

Do you have a reference point???

Proverbs 18:2 A [closed-minded] fool does not delight in understanding, But only in revealing his personal opinions [unwittingly displaying his self-indulgence and his stupidity].

I have said all of this to say.. if we are judging and antagonizing others because they do not agree with our beliefs, it is likely that we are immature and unwittingly causing damage off of strictly opinionated beliefs.  Our purely subjective truths.  And if that is the case, those that we judge and antagonize are not the ones that are “wrong”, we are.  They are not the foolish ones, we would be.  You could be destroying the trust of those that you care about all on your own

If you are preaching the Gospel without verifiable observational evidence, you are not preaching the full gospel and what you say is no different from another existent philosophy.  The Truth is compelling all by itself.  It cannot be denied when the evidence is present.

Jesus Christ is not a philosopher nor a mystic.  He is more of a scientist than you care to admit.  He taught the hows and the whys of the Kingdom of God.
